If you want to work in a team look elsewhere - QSR essentially locks your data into the version of nvivo you have and if the entire team is not using the exact same version you are out of luck. The core features are held hostage by QSR's inability to provide backwards compatibility or to allow for sharing between windows and mac. The software is expensive and requires yearly licensing even though the main & best features are essentially the same for the last 10 years. If you are working 100% independently, I would recommend any older/cheaper version of NVivo for the core coding functionality. Nvivo allows you to code multiple types of data together - great for interdisciplinary or "found"/naturalistic data (as opposed to created or elicited data).
